Variable sowing makes it possible to increase yields by varying the sowing density according to the individual production zones and their production possibilities. Practical experience suggests clearly that the optimal seed rate selection according to the yield of the production zone has a significant impact on yield and seed costs optimization.

SeckaVariable seeding is one of the more advanced branches of variable application. This year our customers carried out several trials with variable sowing of barley or winter wheat. The assignment was based on the fact that in areas with high yield potential the seeds were sown with lower density, areas with lower yield potential on the contrary with higher density. The lower seed density in better areas meant more space for offspring and reduced competition for individuals, and in areas with poorer potential, more individuals increased yields. In connection with variable sowing, it is always good to use variable fertilization, which will supply the necessary nutrients where they are needed and contributes to an increase in yield. Variable maize sowing is common, which helps to increase biomass production by better utilizing the yield potential of conventional production zones. Variable sowing technology has been used extensively abroad for several years, for example in the UK, in the 2018/19 season, 75% of all areas of winter wheat have been sown variable. The increase in yield is up to 10%.
